EventWorks Staff Spotlight: Meet Travis

| by EventWorks

Eventworks Staff Spotlight: Meet Travis Baucom, Client Relations and Sales Coordinator

Location: Charleston, SC

Originally from Charlotte, NC, Travis ventured off to UNC Wilmington for college, where he first discovered his passion for the hospitality industry. Travis worked in Wilmington’s food and beverage industry before moving down to Charleston. He has spent more than ten years assisting with commercial kitchen design and selling restaurant equipment.

Fun fact about Travis… his wife is well-known Charleston photographer, Emily Baucom. Because of this, he’s jumped behind the lens a few times and assisted Emily as a second shooter. And, he has even DJ’d a few wedding gigs. Talk about a jack of all trades!

Travis loves EventWork’s large selection of inventory. His favorite product would have to be the Majestic linens, particularly the Majestic Camel.

When Travis is not working in the event industry, you’ll find him….

Let Them Eat cake

Featured Item | by EventWorks

Marie Antoinette once famously said, “Let them eat cake!”, and we couldn’t agree more. Recently, wedding cakes have taken on a life of their own and have become a focal point on the joyous day.

From stands and tables to pretty plates, EventWorks has cake displays for all design styles. Here are are a few of our favorites pairings and ideas, specially curated for our fellow “sweet-tooths” out there.

Direct My Day matched this delicate dessert with our Vintage Pink plates, which went beautifully with the watercolor palette at this wedding.

Make your dessert pop by displaying on a lounge table, like our Victoria End Table. The gold round lines throughout this design will give your tasty treat a classy touch.

It’s all in the details! Sometimes a simple addition can take an ordinary item to the next level! If you are using a traditional table and linen to display your cake, incorporate a pretty floral piece to make the display the focal point of the room.

Our own Marketing Manager, Ashley, used our Gold Cake Stand to display her three-tier cake at her wedding. If gold isn’t your color, we also have this stand available in silver.

Planning a rustic wedding? Our wine barrels are the perfect option for incorporating your beautiful dessert into your theme.

Two sweets are always better than one! If you’re planning multiple dessert options for your guests, our Wine Barrel Table is the perfect size for displaying all of the treats in one place.

Looking for a fun alternative to the traditional wedding cake? Mini milk and cookies [using our shot glasses] are fun to eat and guaranteed to please!

With so many beautiful cake designs and delicious dessert options available these days, we love seeing brides use EventWorks rentals to creatively and colorfully display their sweets. Be sure to check out our Facebook + Instagram pages for more inspirational photos and tips for your big day.

Favorite Summer Tablescapes

Warm summer months in Charleston mean it’s also the season for event planners and brides to incorporate bright, bold colors into their designs. Whether it is patterned linens, colored glassware or a bright napkin, we love seeing our clients’ bold pieces chosen for an event. Below are a few of our favorite summer tablescapes.

YOJ Events partnered with Coastal Kelder to create a coastal-themed dinner using our Almafi china, Gold flatware and a bright Majestic Aqua napkin - complete with an oyster shell on top.

Pure Luxe Bride chose tall, lush floral in fuschia and orange for this intimate dinner. These were paired with our Gold Napoleon chairs, Gold flatware and Hemstitch napkin with Palm leaves as place cards.

On the beautiful piazzas of the Gadsden House, Emcee Studio captured the essence of summer design with our Natural Wood Slatted chairs and Ivory linens. The custom runners complemented the earthy tones, and the look was completed with small palm arrangements.

Peper Events brought summer tablescape dreams to life with her bright and airy design, which featured our Mosaico Gold charger, Savoy Gold flatware and Purio china. A Majestic Watermelon-colored napkin added the perfect summer hue to complete the table.

This shot by Aaron and Jillian was another one of our summer favorites! The gold and peach table set the stage for our Savoy Gold flatware and Gold and Glass chargers, with Peach napkins wrapped around each charger. A fresh summer design with a pop of peach.

Something Blue

Featured Item | by EventWorks

The tradition of ‘something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue’ has been used for centuries by brides in hopes to bring good luck on their wedding day. Nowadays, it is a fun ritual many brides incorporate in various ways into their big day. Our favorite from the old adage is something blue, as EventWorks has many ways to utilize our rentals for a pop of ‘good fortune’ blue.

A pop of blue can be incorporated as a napkin or you can use a full linen in blue is one of your main colors within your wedding palette. With plenty of shades and textures to choose from, some of our popular blue linens include Polyester Slate, Matte Satin Light Blue and Majestic Navy.

Patterned china has become a popular wedding trend over the past few years. Brides and planners have started veering away from the traditional white and ivory banquet china and opting for something more fun! Last year, we added the Corsica and Amalfi lines to our ever-growing china collection. The Corsica line details an elegant darker blue and white pattern while the Amalfi line features a lighter blue with various other pastel shades and a gold trim. Another classic china staple is our Vintage Blue collection, which features a lighter blue base and floral design throughout the plates.

We are obsessed that colored glassware has made a comeback. We have recently added the Bella Blue goblet, as well as the Bohemian Blue glass to our Glassware options. Perfect for a specialty cocktail or for a pop of color within your tablescape, these glasses bring design and texture to your table.

We cannot wait to see more of your designs this year showing off our blue products! Below, find a few ways that our EventWorks brides have incorporated blue into their big day.
