Behind the Scenes: Our Custom Fabrication Shop

Behind every EventWorks rental item, there is a team that works diligently to maintain the quality of our products. And, with a whole line of custom created rental inventory in our fabrication shop, we ensure that our unique pieces are built with the finest craftsmanship.

Our fabrication team was born out of the dream to supply our clients with one-of-a-kind pieces and consistently grow our inventory. From building simple tables to creating beautiful custom bars, our talented team does it all!

It all started with Mr. Mike, the father-in-law of our co-owner Jeff Shavelson. He founded the fabrication department and has built a number of cornerstone pieces for EventWorks over the years, including our farm tables, bar stools, plank tables, and bookcases - all are still popular rental items for our clients.

Today, the fabrication team works to build new exciting pieces that top the trends from past events. Most recently the team has built new wooden uprights for outdoor lighting, antique mirror inserts (as another customizable option for our chameleon bars) and fun entertainment items like our giant Jenga set.

At EventWorks, we our proud to provide our clients with high-quality crafted products that can withstand a high volume of events. When the fabrication team isn’t busy creating new pieces to add to our inventory, they work hard to maintain the quality of our current inventory. They repaint chairs, repair broken legs, shine up small scratches, and give our most popular products the love they need to look brand new at every event.

So who’s behind all of these handcrafted products? Meet Zack and Kevin! Both have been part of the EventWorks team for several years and got their start in the furniture business by learning from family members. Kevin learned how to build things at an early age from his great-grandfather Ralph and Zack grew up learning alongside his dad. Some of their proudest pieces to have built, include our Mahogany five tap bar and our new Mahogany round bars.

The fabrication team is always in conversation with our owners about current inventory needs and what they envision for our next exciting piece. Some exciting ideas being circulated currently include round farm tables and marble bars for the EventWorks collection.

We are so grateful for our fabrication shop experts and all that they do to provide our clients with reliable, quality rentals. We want each piece to feel brand new and special for our clients and we couldn’t do that without Zack and Kevin!

Staff Spotlight: Meet Sunny Crutchfield, Client Relations + Marketing Coordinator

Sunny joined our team in August after moving to Charleston with her new husband. Originally from Knoxville, TN, Sunny studied Marketing and Entrepreneurship at the University of Tennessee. She now holds the role of Marketing Coordinator and Client Relations for the EventWorks Charleston location.

Before joining EventWorks, Sunny was busy running her own specialty cake company called Whisk n’ Batter. It was a passion project that turned into a full-fledge operation, earning her recognition in “Best of Knoxville” and as a Bill Haslam College of Business Student Entrepreneur. This is where Sunny discovered her heart for serving others as well as the events industry.

Sunny most enjoys working with clients in the showroom and using the Matte Satin Camel any chance she gets. She also believes you can never go wrong with our Natural Infinity chairs or our newest addition—the half-moon Mahogany Bars.

Fall Favorites

It’s hard to believe that fall is right around the corner! As we trade in our vibrant summer hues for warm autumn tones, we wanted to highlight a few of our fall favorites that we’re excited to see more of in the upcoming months.

Sienna Lace China Collection

We debuted this collection last fall and it’s still a hit with several of our clients! The cream-colored, texture-edged plates pair perfectly with our Rose Gold flatware and look lovely sitting on a Burgundy or Ruby colored linen.

Chloe Chair

One Year Update on Peachtree Merger

A note from Mike Schmidt, EventWorks Co-Founder

One year ago, EventWorks merged with Peachtree Tents & Events, creating the largest event rental company in the Southeast. With this merger, we took a big step forward in growing our business and enhancing our client experience. We now proudly serve the entire Southeastern United States from six locations in Charleston, Myrtle Beach, Savannah, Atlanta, Birmingham and Nashville. This merger has allowed us to create more value for our clients by providing EventWorks with additional resources, reach, operational experience and product lines.

Now with an entire year under the Peachtree umbrella complete, I wanted to take the time to update you on the progress we’ve accomplished.

Since the merger, our increased product depth has allowed us to execute event orders in all three EventWorks markets that would not have been possible without the added inventory and resources. We have also standardized purchasing at all locations to build product lines that we can share throughout all of our markets. Most importantly, we have increased our commitment to regularly introducing new products and services for our clients. For example, out of demand, we’ve recently added large structure frame tents and flooring, and are sourcing new product lines to debut in the Fall.

We are also investing in additional resources for our two large design/build centers in Charleston and Nashville. These centers support all of our service locations, allowing us to add unique and one-of-a-kind rentals to our inventory and ensure that our products are made with the highest quality. It’s here that our popular custom wood products like bars, tables, and benches are constructed.

While we have grown our product catalogue and service regions, EventWorks continues its operations status quo - as has been standard in our more than eight years in business. We will add to our inventory and offerings via our Peachtree partnership, but all decision-making will remain at the local level, allowing us the flexibility to purchase what is required for our markets. Our merger adds resources for growth, stability, consistency and more capabilities, but our philosophy remains based on a “local presence with a regional reach”.

We have set the bar high and we will continue to do what is necessary to earn our clients’ trust. We exist to “create great experiences”, and our core values of taking pride, having heart, and giving thanks stay at the forefront of all of our decision-making. We are extremely grateful for our clients for all of your support in this journey.
